HARTBEATS Drummers Performances

HARTBEATS Drummers is the performance group led by Justine Hart, performing traditional West African rhythms on djembe and dundun drums at festivals, fêtes, theatres and community celebrations.
More than a performance
HARTBEATS Drummers can do more than perform for your audience. A performance can be followed by a participatory drumming workshop, giving guests the opportunity to pick up a djembe and become part of the music themselves.
Book a performance, a participatory workshop, or combine both to create an unusual and memorable shared experience.

Performances with St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School
Justine teaches West African drumming at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in Chalfont St Peter every week. She works with classes throughout the school day, including a separate advanced session, and leads an after-school drumming group open to pupils in Years 5 and 6.
Her teaching includes djembe and dundun parts, West African dance and dundun dance, which combines choreographed movement with playing the bass drums. Through progressive weekly tuition, the pupils develop a substantial repertoire of traditional West African rhythms and the skills to perform confidently together in public.
In 2026, pupils taught and directed by Justine performed at:
- 27 June 2026 – St Joseph’s Feast Day, Chalfont St Peter, joined by a member of HARTBEATS Drummers
- 20 June 2026 – Wycombe High School 100th Anniversary Carnival, performing jointly with HARTBEATS Drummers
- 13 June 2026 – Chesham Bois Fête, performing jointly with HARTBEATS Drummers
